For what you pay this is a great device. The amp is very good, not too much clipping except at very high volumes, if you want louder than this, buy a separate amp. I'd rate it as good as any of the Sony/ Alpine/ Panasonic lower end head units I've purchased. It is actually worth getting a decent set of speakers to go with it, and also make sure you use a reasonable bit rate when encoding your music. I have good alpine speakers and the definition with high bit rate music is very good. Radio works well, card function works well. Only downside is the random function when playing from the SD card, sort of... rather than being random it has a certain pattern of track numbers it uses, by adding onto the track you start with. ie if you switch it on and start with track 1 it will then play the same random selection you got last time, but if you then advance to say track 3 before pressing random it will then use the same algorithm, but starting from track 3, so therefore different. It isn't really an issue as I've noticed a lot of players do the same thing, as generating truly random numbers is expensive!

Controls are OK, the remote is good though huge (not easy to loose I guess). I haven't figured out how to display the song titles yet, it wants to, as it scrolls through that function while playing. I have figured this out now, if you sync your music using Media Player it will do song titles, if you copy and paste it won't.

One thing to check however is the phasing on the speaker leads, mine had one pair of front speaker leads labelled wrong. It was pretty obvious, when you opened the door the bass increased a heap. So something to check, if like in Chan's review the Bass seems weak.

All in all, for the money it is worth buying.

Oh yeah, it doesn't have screw holes in the side for mounting in toyota brackets, but the mounting cradle does have heaps of tabs to make a secure installation. It's very light so it doesn't need much to hold it, the cradle plus the back strap is more than enough. If you can't access the back strap, it's light enough that a platform of scrunched up paper at the back of the unit would hold it up, providing you don't block the ventilation.

Upshot is: I'd buy another one and recommend it to my friends, especially at this price!

PS: I dunno what unit the guy who gave it one star was reviewing but I don't think it was this one! It even has a different DIN mounting set up, the first locking tabs are right next to the front of the cradle.
